One of the hardest parts of eating healthy or low carb is limiting the sweet treats. To make it easier, we found a few ways to still enjoy healthy "sweet" treats with way less sugar.
A few of our favorite low carb desserts is this creamsicle protein jello and these strawberry yogurt bites. Keeping little cups of goodness in our fridge at all times has gotten us through some tough times when the sweet tooth is stronger than our motivation.
We became hooked on lemon desserts after making this low carb copycat Chick-fil-a frosted lemonade. So, of course we had to make some sugar free lemon Jello cups for dessert this summer.
Why Mix Greek Yogurt and Jello
This easy recipe only uses two simple ingredients and is perfect if you are following a sugar-free or low-carb diet.
If you have never added Greek yogurt to a Jello dessert, then you are missing out. This creamy Jello is a popular combo for many reasons.
- Creamy Texture - Greek yogurt gives these Jello cups a rich and creamy texture, without using heavy whipping cream or any other high fat ingredient.
- Variety of Flavors - You can buy sugar free Jello in so many different flavors, so you can make a different one every time.
- Light and Refreshing - Yogurt Jello is a light dessert, which is great during hot weather or after a heavy meal. The cool gelatin combined with the creamy yogurt makes a "sweet" treat.
- Healthy Benefits - Yogurt is a good source of protein and calcium. Plus, it has probiotics, which are beneficial for gut health. By combining yogurt with sugar-free Jello, you can enjoy a dessert that is lower in sugar and calories compared to traditional Jello desserts.
Ingredients Needed
One of the best things about this sugar free yogurt Jello is that you only need two ingredients, plus water! I am sure you can guess what those 2 ingredients might be.
- Greek Yogurt - You can use any brand of Greek yogurt that you prefer. Our favorite brand is Fage, and we use the 4% fat version. Feel free to experiment with flavored yogurt, or non-dairy alternatives like almond or coconut yogurt.
- Sugar Free Jello - You can use whatever flavor you prefer. During the summer we like the fresh flavor of lemon Jello.
How to Make Yogurt Jello
This simple low carb lemon dessert can be put together in 3 easy steps. It only takes 5 minutes to whip together.
- In a bowl, combine the Jello mix with boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Add ice water to the bowl and stir until most of the ice is melted.
- Pour the jello mixture and the yogurt into a blender and pulse for 30 seconds.
- Pour into small cups or bowls and chill for 2 hours.
Storage Recommendations
Refrigerator - Once the Jello yogurt fluff has set up, cover each cup with a lid or plastic wrap. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Simple Tips
- Avoid extra sugar. Flavored or sweetened yogurts will have unnecessary sugars and carbs in them. GramZero is another great option that uses organic stevia. Use plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt for the best results.
- Dissolve the Jello. Make sure the dry powder is completely dissolved or it may not set up properly.
- Use smaller containers. Small ramekins, glasses, or plastic cups allow you to easily portion and serve the dessert once it has set. Place the filled containers in the refrigerator and let them chill for at least 2 hours before eating.
- Wait to cover the tops. Avoid covering the Jello until it has completely set up. This allows all the heat to escape without leaving excess condensation on the tops.
- Experiment with toppings. Top the lemon cups with sugar free whipped cream, a sprinkle of crushed nuts, or a few fresh berries before serving.

Could you freeze the individual servings?

I am not sure how the consistency would be when it thaws back out. I will have to try it. If you tried it, let me know your thoughts on freezing them.

Could you do this with sugar free chocolate pudding?
healthyrecipesmadesimple says
This would not work with the pudding mix. This particular recipe uses water and ice to create the jello base.
